Today Sony has released its newest update for the PS4, firmware update 4.50. Only a those who signed up and were selected for the beta group will be able to install today, but take a look at what Sony is up to with this new upgrade to the system.
Right off the bat what has most people excited, or rather, those fortunate enough to own a PS4 Pro, is boost mode. This new feature will add a staggering “boost” to a great deal of previously released games for the PS4 that debuted before the Pro released late last year. This boost has reportledly increased frame rates and even load times for games that once struggled to maintain their highest output abilities on the regular PS4. So…yay for all of you with PS4 Pro. I’ll be over here creating a craiglist add for a new sugar daddy.
What has ME the most excited is the new ability to simply plug in an external hard drive to expand your current available space for new game downloads. Any save data will still automatically save to PS4 hard drive but at least now users can free up space for all of those heavy handed game downloads.
Thirdly, PS4 users will have more customization abilities for the home screen. Use your favorite screen shots from in game moments as your back ground to feature that amazing new Horizon sunset you can’t stop thinking about. Or the sweet look Dorian gave you before leaning in for that…Oh wait…
Also included are a simplified notification menu and also, mostly exciting for VR users, is new support for 3D Blu ray movies using PSVR. I personally haven’t boarded the VR train, mostly because my wallet strongly disagrees with the idea, but I’m sure most of us wouldn’t mind a 3D viewing of Chris Pratt being hosed down with weird orange gunk in Gaurdians of the Gal…oh. Just me?
