For whatever reason, some of you out there aren’t quite ready to jump head first into Nintendo’s newest offering, The Switch.
But fret not. The biggest and brightest reason to actually buy the Switch this weekend, The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild is being released on both The Switch and Wii U. And based on these video comparisons, there really isn’t much difference between the two.
For those of you who need numbers I can give you a couple:
When the Switch is docked it’s going to run Zelda at 900p compared to Wii U which outputs the game at 720p. Both run a pretty solid 30fps but according to websites like Kotaku, both systems typically drop in frame rates at completely differnent parts of the game, giving no firm comparison of each other to decide which one is “better”. Arguably, the crispest, cleanest looking visuals are going to come from playing the game on the Switch UN-docked. Doing so, the Zelda runs the game at 720p but will still appear to the eye clearer than the Wii thanks to it’s smaller screen.
But don’t just take my word for it. Use your own eyeballs to see for yourself and check out the videos below for graphics comparisons between the two ports.
As you can see (thanks to MasterKillua on YouTube) the graphics comparison, while noticeable, won’t leave you Wii U owners too far behind. Stay tuned for our full review of Breath of the Wild. So get out there and save that princess once again like the good little gaymers you are.
